attacking style of play

By: j | July 25th, 2008

Ahead of Saturday’s friendly, Hubb Stevens commented that the focus upon the camp so far which has been to build the basics of attacking play, increase levels of fitness that the style of play is so dependent on and create a positive team-family atmosphere. Equally, scheduled friendlies are purposely lighter-affairs with complete focus upon the start of the campaign.

To-date training has satisfied each of these goals and if there is one drawback from my observations it is the level of conditioning, minor injuries related to work threshold and inappropriate focus on conditioning that is the individual athletes responsibility. Injuries such as Nordin Amrabat achilles problem are minor in nature but are caused not from impact but from developmental approaches that lack the insight of biomechanical needs of the game. This is a critical aspect of developmental and one that it must be dovetailed via the KNVB throughout Football in the Netherlands.

I will be posting commentary on the SV Vaassen immediately following the match.
