hey Steve, is that you?

Cruel I know but with the sight of an ‘brolly this season, I can’t resist the friendly joke towards Twente’s new manager, Steve McClaren. And while that really wasn’t Steve in the crowd of this mornings practice, he certainly will have the Enschede squad ready. Recent additions such as the superb nineteen year-old Serbian national Slobodan Rajković, who was with us last season on-loan from Chelsea, will anchor an even tighter defensive net. All that aside and in the spirit of good-natured fun, I just might lead a group in suits with the appropriate umbrella’s for the first match against Twente.
Practices today were shortened with a steady rain that turned quite violent at times. After going through a barrage of fitness drills and testing, the squad began to work on fundamental ball work but had to slow as conditions worsened. The newly appointed assistant-captain Carlos Salcido, who seems to grow in leadership qualities, spent a great deal of time working with Hubb and understanding his ideology. While last season was certainly a breakout campaign for Carlos, this upcoming one holds even more promise.
The afternoon session was curtailed for the first team photos and primarily individual work.
