Mounir El Hamdaoui sees red, Dick Advocaat sees PSV win 1-0 against AZ Alkmaar
By: Firezen | December 13th, 2009I’ll be honest, I didn’t watch the match. I can’t find any video highlights either, because youtube and every major video hosting websites blocked over this side of the globe, so I’ll work with what other people have said in their match reports.
Apparently, our super Brazilian sub Jonathan Reis has done enough to gain the confidence from Fred Rutten to cement his spot in the starting line up. Afellay returned to the starting line up after his suspension.
Despite Fred Rutten’s game preview expecting Dick not to go all offensive, Dick wasn’t hesistant to let the team do their thing, and threw out the typical Dutch 4-3-3.
Many chances went begging for PSV, with posts and Afellay’s mis-shot in front of goal close range, but when Mounir El Hamdaoui got his second yellow card of the night at the 70th minute, it provided the space needed for the late goal scored on the 86th minute when Erik Pieters whipped in a cross for Ola Toivonen to score.

Dick Advocaat wasn’t in a bad mood though, cause as with most newly appointed coaches, he still has a large amount of patience and time on his side at the moment. It’s a temporary job too, so there wasn’t too much Dick could do before they faced PSV. That being said, after half the games (17 rounds) of the season gone, FC Twente and PSV are the only sides who have yet to be defeated.
Would really love PSV to clinch the title by beating FC Twente and going undefeated!
