PSV continues to plummet

By: j | December 14th, 2008

PSV’s hopes of successfully defending their Eredivisie crown continues to plummet as they were held to a 1-1 draw against relegation threatened Vitesse in Arnhem. With the draw, PSV is now tied with Heerenveen and NAC Breda as well as being nine points behind first-place AZ

PSV showed an element of aggressiveness in the attack with Balázs Dzsudzsák and Danko Lazović exhibiting intent but it wasn’t till two minutes before the break that the young Serbian international provided Nordin Amrabat an open chance, which he completed without hesitation. Yet the confidence and if it needs to be said, pride of a champion, didn’t seem to make the tip to Arnhem. Five minutes past the hour Nicky Hofs weighted a perfect ball to Finnish capped Niklas Tarvajarvi brought the match level with a textbook finish. Some will claim it was offside, yet champions are not supposed to linger upon the fate of a call and absent of quality finishing the match ended with a 1-1 draw.

PSV returns to action next Sunday against Feyenoord
