Sparta Rotterdam match review
By: j | September 13th, 2008PSV’s 1-0 victory over Sparta Rotterdam today over at Philips Stadion was certainly a lot less that the goal-scoring out-pouring I was expecting. However in support of Hubb Stevens, I am extremely pleased at the lineup he used and the vote of confidence he gave many developing players. Yes a “1-0″ win is too-close for comfort but it was an efficient victory and you can be assured the club that will go into the Champions League against Atlético Madrid next Tuesday fully recovered.
With Sparta Rotterdam lacking offensive flourish, PSV was on the doorstep on numerous occasions but lacked in the finishing touch. Finally, fifteen minutes after the break Ibrahim Afelley found the back of the net for the only score of the match. The match equally might be remembered for a whimsical end with Sparta pouring forward in a last ditch corner attempt. With their ‘keeper in the attacking-end the ball was cleared to Danny Koevermans who fired a long-range shot into the goal. It was ruled offside but certainly ranks as a wacky ending to a victory.
Lets put the three points away and get ready for Champions League. Full match previews to come.

No idea, mate… You can best look it up at http://www.spartarotterdam.nl or something like that. Google Sparta Rotterdam and you’ll find their site. Your Dutch is good enough to find the prices there, I suppose… Good luck, S P A R T A (the club song
