training day in Oisterwijk

By: j | July 22nd, 2008

With the club training in Oisterwijk this weeks, they’ve rolled-back some of the overall fitness work and subsequently increased the technical component. One of the most notable points in practice as been the swarming and tight defensive net that is emerging.

Much of this is owing to the play Carlos Salcido who since the start of camp, established himself as a very vocal and powerful leader on the team. After a superb five years at Chivas of the Primera División de México, the Mexican International was highly sought-after throughout the Football world and after signing with PSV in the summer of 2006 and going through the natural assimilation period, he begin to slowly establish himself as one of the top defenders in the Eredivisie. This maturation process has continued and now as assistant captain, his leadership qualities are in full-blown and it bodes well for PSV back-line.

Very clearly with his increased growth, as well as the addition Erik Pieters and Francisco Javier Rodríguez and Dirk Marcellis increased play, the back-line is emerging as a strong-point of the squad.
